Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists is a privately-owned specialty practice that cares about finding the cause of patient’s allergy and asthma symptoms. We are well known for our thorough work-up so the best treatment can be offered to help our patients feel better.

A nonexempt, clerical position primarily responsible for scheduling and rescheduling new patient appointments.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Promptly schedule and reschedule appointments for patients usually by phone and occasionally in person.
  • Create new patient charts and documents all pertinent information into the scheduling system including any relevant notes.
  • Verify all patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Apprise supervisor when scheduling issues arise, either by patient notification or by staff notification.
  • Collect email addresses and sends new patient packets by email, when appropriate, and by regular mail, as needed. Directs patients to website for information regarding practice.
  • Use computerized system to match provider’s availability with a patient’s preference in regards to date and time.
  • Consult with supervisor about any system problems or scheduling concerns.
  • Document pertinent patient data using automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Use customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights and sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists confidentiality policy.
  • Represent Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists in a positive and professional manner.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

One year of experience in customer service or reception, preferably in a health care environment.
