Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists is a privately-owned specialty practice that cares about finding the cause of patient’s allergy and asthma symptoms. We are well known for our thorough work-up so the best treatment can be offered to help our patients feel better.
A nonexempt position responsible for day-to-day operation of the Allergy Laboratory, other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Promote team ethics and professionalism.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Allergy Laboratory.
- Oversee Allergy Laboratory Nurse Supervisor and Provider Nurse Supervisor building interdepartmental communication, knowledge and procedures.
- Ensure professional, accurate and prompt service to patients and internal employees.
- Oversee training of Allergy Lab Nurses and Allergy Lab Assistant.
- Explain procedures and treatments in a calm, professional, pleasant manner to patient to gain cooperation and understanding.
- Responsible for the safety of the patient and the allergy lab staff.
- Notify physician and/or Administrator of any adverse reactions to skin testing or allergy injections.
- Oversee vaccine order process into Allergy Lab System for making new vaccine.
- Oversee the preparation of the individual patient vaccine as ordered by the provider.
- Conduct immunotherapy instruction, home immunotherapy instruction, and epinephrine administration instruction, as needed.
- Prepare extract solution for testing and verify expiration dates.
- Document phone conversations recording pertinent patient information.
- Responds to critical patient incidents using nursing standards, policies, procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by Administrator.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
- Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned including respecting/promoting patient rights and sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor.
- Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists confidentiality policy.
- Represent Richmond Allergy and Asthma Specialists in a positive and professional manner.
Education:
Current Registered Nurse License or Licensed Practical Nurse License, current CPR certification and supervisory experience.
Experience:
One year of experience in allergy related practice and at least one year supervisory experience.
